BIO
Liisa originally opened Skin Beauty Bar in 2005, bringing with her years of advanced training in Aesthetics. She then went east to work, called away by her National PR Marketing credentials, and is happy to be back home in L.A. and back in gear with SKIN BEAUTY BAR.

Her family has been in the resort business for generations, and this background in luxury service is a wonderful advantage for her pampered clients. 

Liisa grew up in the world of ballet and musical theater in  New York City before heading to L.A. to further her career in acting and voice-overs.

 She manages to deftly juggle her theatrical career with her skin care business and can currently be seen in films on television as well as heard, as various Elves and Gremlins in the on-line game, Mythos.

In L.A. everything moves fast! (Well, everything but the 405.) We know you're busy and sometimes you have to juggle the time in your Life. "Liisa, what make-up products do you use to keep your skin glowing and healthy?"
I'm a fan of YonKa skin care and I love the benefits of my Intraceuticals take home products.
I tell all my clients to exfoliate at home with Dermalogica's Daily Microfiliant. It's so easy and you can't over exfoliate. The body wash is also great and smells delicious.
Currently I use Motives Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation with SPF 15 as my base, I spot treat with Laura Mercier liquid foundation. I used to use her tinted moisturizer then finish with powder but the Motives Liquid Minerals has a much better feel, a sheerer look that still gives better coverage and it doesn't clog my pores. This is the first time I've ever found a mineral product that keep my pores clear. Knowing that it's a better product and half the price of other name brand products, I can't say enough about it!

For the Body: I use Ocean Potion for babies or anti-aging SPF 30. It smells like oranges and it's lovely.
However you get it -  get that SPF!
        I moisturize with Body Drench - it's a favorite of sun bathers all over the sexy southern coasts of Florida.

Things to know before or after you...

whiten teeth:
DO clean your teeth thoroughly or finish a meal 1 hour before arriving. A light cleaning is part of the prep for your treatment as well.

DON'T eat or drink very cold things 1 hour before your treatment.

DON'T consume coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, berries, soda, chewing tobacco or any other consumable that may stain or color teeth.
24-48 hours after teeth whitening your teeth, even though there is no sensitivity, are more porous, and transfer staining more easily.

how long does it last?
ismile teeth whitening lasts as long as professional laser or custom bleaching tray techniques last.
(at less than half the cost!)

will it work on veneers or artificial teeth?
ismile DOES work on all tooth replacement materials - Keep in mind though, that it will only lift that product to it's original color level when it was installed. This includes crowns, bonding, veneers, caps,  porcelain work,  implants and all other artificial material.
will it make my teeth sensitive or hurt?
Nope! If your teeth are in good condition there will be no sensitivity at all. I've whitened many happy clients!
NOTE:
If you have a cavity or compromised enamel ( a chip or a crack), you may feel sensitivity in that area alone, that may last for several minutes.
If you're nursing, please get your doctors permission before making an appointment for teeth whitening.

wax:
DO shower and gently exfoliate the area to be waxed.
DON'T have sugar, caffeine, aspirin or alcohol.
Sugar and caffeine can be inflammatory and make you prone to bruising. Not the pretty result you're looking for!

DO give us about two weeks of hair growth to work with. Less than that, the hair may too short for the wax to grip, and more than that makes the hair removal "a longer pull" so to speak, and that is more painful and can also lead to broken hairs that aren't completely removed. 
DO TRIM hair growth to be waxed before arriving! If your hair growth in the area to be waxed is over half an inch..... it will be a much more efficient and pleasant experience if you landscape the area beforehand. And we thank you!

DON'T lay out in the sun the day of or before. Tanning makes your skin much too sensitive for all but the most olive toned individuals. You'll have to reschedule your appointment, and that's no fun!

AFTER WAXING: It's a good idea not to go tanning - sun or spray, go to the beach,  get in a hot tub, for 24 hours.
DO exfoliate (gently!) with a loofah to prevent ingrown hairs.
After waxing, new growth begins in about one week. Sometimes after the third week, it is ready to wax again. Hair growth should be one-half or one-third less of its total volume. We recommend you wax at about the fourth week, at this stage in the growth cycle because the whole idea of waxing is to have as little hair as possible, right?
We DO NOT advise letting all your hair grow out before waxing again. This process could take up to three months. The benefit of regular waxing is that the follicle will eventually give up growing a replacement hair. Some people who have waxed for years experience only 20% hair re-growth.

HAIR BREAKAGE: Not every hair comes out by the root when waxing. In fact, most people experience hair breakage after waxing. A variety of factors cause hair breakage. Factors may include having thick or coarse hair and tight follicles, which are more resistant to coming out of the root, causing more breakage. As waxing is continued on a consistent basis, follicles usually begin to loosen and less hair will break. It only takes one waxing for the hair to grow thinner.

how much does it hurt?

Depending on your skin type, (sensitive skin, thick hair etc) you may experience some discomfort. Having said that, most men and women find it over before they know it, and are surprised at how painless the Brazilian really is! We have a few techniques to minimize the pain.

If you have been shaving or trimming for a long period of time, you may experience some spot bleeding from the hair follicle straight after waxing. This is because the roots of the hair follicle are old and very strong. Continuous removal of the hair will make it sparse and the spot bleeding will stop. This only occurs the first time as you may have naturally thick or course hair. The more you wax the less it will hurt!

Note: We highly recommend women NOT schedule waxing appointments (especially delicate waxings like Brazilians) close to the start of their cycle. Skin is much more sensitive and receptive to pain signals at this time of the month.

how long does it last?

After your first wax, the results can last from 4 weeks to 7 weeks, depending on the season as hair grows a lot faster in warmer weather. Continuous waxing helps the hair to become sparse.
